Stephanie, our founder and the designer of The Grow Retreat, always does a phenomenal job with the Retreat, and I honestly didn’t believe she could make it any more phenomenal after last year’s incredible retreat.

The entire line-up of speakers was mind blowing, but Jesse Cole of the Savannah Bananas really stood out (Could have been his banana yellow tuxedo!)! Jesse shared some of his incredible insight with us, and one of the concepts he shared was about being unique.
The Savannah Bananas are a rousing success because no other baseball brand is even remotely like theirs. They took one part of their brand, the name “Savannah Bananas” and built an entire culture and experience around it.
They went deeper than just giving themselves a clickbait title and eye-catching mascot.
When you attend a Savannah Bananas baseball game, it’s not just a baseball game. Jesse Cole and his team took the primary reason that people used to attend baseball games and brought it back into the stadium: fun!
The primary reason for attending baseball games has always been fun, but so many friction points in baseball games have made it more annoying than fun to spend time purchasing tickets and spending $7 per person for a mediocre hotdog while you’re there. Jesse and his team recognized that and brought fun back into the stadium! Their result? They have dominated the market and created a unique experience that has resulted in sold out tickets for the last several seasons.
So how do you bring that to your business?
You can Yellow Tux your business too! Start by answering these questions:
1: What is the primary reason people work with companies in your industry?
2: What makes you unique in your industry and is something you can take into every aspect of your company? (Trust me, it’s not just “customer service.” Check out Stephanie’s blog to learn why.)
If you can answer those questions, you can create what Jesse calls the Perfect Fan Testimony. Sit down and write down what the perfect fan would have to say about experiencing your service. Then, once you have some ideas of what the ideal fan would focus on, begin elaborating on those inside your overall experience around that (E.G. If your ideal fan would comment about how streamlined your process is for onboarding, pick apart your entire process and find ONE way to streamline it MORE!). Not only will you start attracting the customers you want to deal with, but you’ll stand out in a crowded marketplace with your unique brand.
So go out there and create your Yellow Tux!
